I have been fishing since I was 4, so I have 45 years of fishing experience, so far. I grew up in the mountains of North Carolina, and I always had a dream of being the youngest Bass Masters Classic Pro Fisherman. I have spent my years collecting bass magazines and cataloging them by month, so that I could study/review every season to learn the patterns of the bass and the best techniques for finding them. I was lucky to have a father who was a great fisherman, and who chose to teach his 3 boys the sport, instead of pursuing tournament fishing himself. I fished through my school years and one year of college, and then began tournament fishing with local bass clubs.
Beginning in 1983, I fished Bass Federation up through 1996 where I placed anywhere from 1st to 25th on a regular basis. From 1997 to 2005 I worked full time for UPS as a driver, where I learned that if you “didn’t have time to fish, you didn’t have time to win”. Then in 2005 I started local tournaments again in NC, SC, and TN; and have since been involved with Fishers of Men, BFL, and local charity tournaments including the Mountain Music Kids tournament held annually at Douglas Lake, TN. This is an all day tournament which includes 400 children. In 2016 I plan to again fish with the BFL in the NC and SC divisions.
I have also guided for Small Mouth Bass on Fontana Lake, NC, and trout in Cherokee, NC.
